Sage Steele is an American sportscaster and television host. She’s best known for hosting ‘SportsCenter On The Road’ and the weekend edition of ‘NBA Countdown’. Steele was born into an army family on November 28, 1972 in Panama Canal Zone. Her parents are Mona and Gary Steele. She has two brothers, Courtney and Chad. Steele lived in various states and countries as a child. She attended Thomas B. Doherty High School in Colorado Springs followed by Carmel High School in Indiana. Steele continued her education at Indiana University Bloomington. She graduated in 1995 with a B.S. degree in sports communication.
CAREER
Steele started out as a producer and reporter for WSBT-TV in South Bend, Indiana. She held that position from 1995 to 1997. She then worked briefly at WISH-TV in Indianapolis before moving to WFTS-TV in Tampa, Florida in 1998. Steele served as the beat reporter for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1998 to 2001. She also covered Super Bowl XXXV for Fox Sports Networks.
Steele made her debut with Comcast SportsNet in April 2001. She spent six years as the anchor of SportsNite from 2001 to 2007. SportsNite is a nightly sports news program which focuses on the Washington, DC and Baltimore region. During her tenure she also served as beat reporter for the Baltimore Ravens.
Steele joined the crew at ESPN in 2007. She anchored the network’s flagship news program, SportsCenter, from 2007 to 2013. She now serves as the lead host for SportsCenter on the Road. Steele became the host of the weekend edition of NBA Countdown at the start of the 2013-14 NBA regular season. She co-hosted the 2017 Miss America pageant alongside television host Chris Harrison.
