A woman who was initially charged in connection with failing to report the death of Michael Vaughan has been sentenced on unrelated charges.

Michael "Monkey" Vaughan went missing from his home in Fruitland two years ago this last July, seemingly without a trace. Last year, detectives following a lead searched the home of Sarah and Stacey Wondra, just a few blocks from where Michael went missing.

The search ultimately turned up nothing, but Fruitland Police Chief Joe Huff says he believes Michael was buried there at some point but has since been moved.

The prosecutors dropped the charges against Wondra in the Michael Vaughan case, but Chief Huff says a probable cause affidavit has been forwarded to prosecutors. Huff added the case and investigation remain ongoing.

Sarah Wondra has been charged with crimes unrelated to the disappearance of Michael Vaughan, including aggravated assault, evidence destruction, and possession of controlled substances. The prosecutor in the case dropped the controlled substance possession charges as part of a plea agreement on the other two felonies.

Wondra has been sentenced to three years fixed with an additional four indeterminate.

No one else has been charged regarding the disappearance of Michael Vaughan.
