Steven Mnuchin is an American banker, film producer and former Goldman Sachs partner. He was tapped as Treasury Secretary by President Donald Trump. Mnuchin was born to Jewish parents Elaine and Robert on December 21, 1962. His father is a former Goldman Sachs banker turned art dealer. Mnuchin completed his Bachelors of Arts degree at Yale University.
CAREER
Mnuchin spent close to 20 years at the multinational finance company, Goldman Sachs. He worked briefly at Soros Fund Management before launching RatPac-Dune Entertainment in 2006. RatPac-Dune is a motion picture production and financing company. The company is headquartered in Los Angeles, California. They’ve produced a number of films with 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros, Universal Pictures and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Selected films include American Sniper, Mad Max: Fury Road, Avatar and the X-Men film franchise.
Mnuchin served as chairman of OneWest from 2009 until the company was sold in 2015. He also served as co-chairman of Relativity Media prior to it going bankrupt. Mnuchin served as finance chairman of Donald Trump 2016 presidential campaign. He was elected as the 77th United States Secretary of the Treasury under the Trump administration. He was sworn into office on February 13, 2017.
