Haleakala National Park’s Summit District was closed all day Tuesday, and sunrise reservations were canceled for Wednesday morning.
Reports from the National Weather Service indicate nighttime temperatures below freezing, leading to the possibility of hazardous and icy conditions on roadways, the park said.
When conditions are safe, the Summit District will reopen, the park said.
Haleakala summit area was closed early afternoon Monday. Wednesday is the second day that sunrise reservations have been canceled.
Weather service forecasts call for warmer weather Wednesday. The Kipahulu District of Haleakala National Park in East Maui remains open.
